Solutions to Prevent Yellowing & Aging for Long-term Outdoor Touch Monitor Application
1.Select high-alumina-silicon raw glass with built-in cerium ion UV absorbers. The substrate itself blocks short-wave ultraviolet rays ranging from 300 nm to 380 nm to prevent crystalline yellowing of glass after long-term UV irradiation. Ordinary soda-lime glass and non-UV-resistant float glass shall be phased out.
2.Prefer ultra-clear glass substrate with iron content controlled at ≤150ppm for inherently low yellowing tendency.
3.Incorporate inorganic UV-absorbing oxides such as ceria and titania inside the coating layer to block full-spectrum UVA and UVB and prevent ultraviolet penetration into the underlying polarizer.
4.Adopt ceramic sputtering coating instead of organic ink coating. The inorganic film features outstanding UV resistance against prolonged sunlight exposure and avoids yellowing caused by organic resin aging within one to two years.
5.Control the transmittance of 380nm ultraviolet light below 5% after coating treatment to drastically cut UV flux entering the LCD and polarizer layers from the source.
6.Adopt dedicated UV-resistant weatherproof polarizer: UV absorbers are added to both PVA polarizing layer and TAC protective film, and modified weather-resistant triacetate is used for TAC film. The product passes 500-hour QUV accelerated UV aging test without obvious yellowing, equivalent to 2 years of outdoor service life.
7.Adopt full lamination structure. UV-blocking OCA optical adhesive is applied between cover glass and polarizer, with organic UV absorbers blended into OCA glue to intercept residual ultraviolet rays secondarily and further protect the PVA polarizing layer of the polarizer.
8.High-temperature crystallized and UV-oxidation-resistant ITO coating is selected for the ITO film. It resists oxidation blackening, sheet resistance drift and transmittance degradation under long-term UV exposure.
9.UV-curable anti-oxidation silver paste is adopted for circuit traces with added anti-oxidant additives. This prevents UV-induced silver paste blackening and optical deterioration, so as to avoid local touch open circuits and sensitivity degradation caused by degraded circuit transmittance.
10.The complete machine casing is designed with light-shielding structure: shielding lips are arranged around the screen frame to block oblique side UV radiation from entering the inner interlayer.
